Our Mission: Creating change.
The U.Va. Women’s Center’s mission is education, in the broad sense that Thomas Jefferson envisioned it: the Center teaches students how to create powerful and positive change, in themselves, in their communities, and in their world. This University tradition has been supported by the Women’s Center since its founding in 1989.
Serving University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members, the Women’s Center focuses on leadership development, scholarship, research, and public services by women, as well as support services for women and men. The Center has grown into a unique organization with an active full and part-time staff of faculty, staff, student interns, and volunteers. The Women’s Center is a national model for effective outreach, serving over 17,000 people annually.
